After more than three weeks spent mostly in dive resorts at the edge of the world, and 37 dives, I was in urgent need of a bit of western civilisation. I missed green salads and chocolate cake. My fingernails were three weeks overdue, the gel lifted, and a complete mess. And my regulator leaked. All of those needs got met in Singapore.
Thanks to Mr YingKai, my regulator got a speed service over the weekend. On my first night in the city, a very skilled lady at The Nailist worked at my nails till 09:30pm. And see what I had for breakfast the next day:
Rich chocolate cake.
Singapore offers many diverse culinary options:
Not that I think fish heads are appetizing.
I was also able to satisfy my cravings for good bread:
Mövenpick’s breakfast basket is epic.
Apart from eating, I did the tourist thing… I visited the gardens by the bay and the Marina Bay Sands Hotel.
The Sands. As a hotel, not quite in my budget. But impressive.
The ‘trees’ at the gardens
The cloud forest
Art, hidden between small plants…
and big ones.
The various and interconnected shopping centers are also worth seeing, especially while outdoors the daily tropical rainstorm takes place. Which, in this well-regulated city state, went on for about an hour each afternoon.
