I’ve decided that I will use this blog to promote all the under-appreciated, provincial, small airports of the world I will encounter in transit and otherwise. Along with survival guides for the bigger ones, too.
So. Sam Ratulangi is not big, it’s not too bad, and it even is INTERNATIONAL due to some Silkair flights to/from Singapore.

The weather can be a bit surprising, it being the tropics and monsoon time. Waterproof luggage is advisable.
What else? Well with a Starbucks in front, and a Coffee Club in the gate area, elixirs and waybread (like espresso and chic muffins) are obtainable for the weary traveller. The toilets are acceptable regarding construction and cleanliness, so Manado Airport is whitelisted. For the moment. Let’s see how transit in the middle of the night will feel, in March 2017, on my way to Raja Ampat. Stay tuned.
