The sun is rising from a perfect, calm sea. It is shortly before 6am. Another beautiful day.
The bird noises are really loud. The birdwatchers have left the resort already at 5am to see the birds of paradise, and whatever else they can find. I have pineapple pancake and coffee before the dive boat leaves at 7:30. My friends Martine and Di and Chris are on board together with our dive guide and entertainer Demos.
8:00am. On our way to our first dive site we encounter a big school of dolphins. They play around the boat in the sunshine.
8:30 first dive at Gorango Mini. We dive along the reef ridge and see flatworms, lionfish, leaf frogfish. Some black-tipped reef sharks and a turtle. Schools of fusiliers swim by. Out in the blue, big glittering schools of longjaw mackerel, oceanic triggerfish.
11:00 second dive at the airport site. A poor little longarm octopus creeps exhausted into a hole. In the midst of algae, ambion scorpionfish hide. There is a crocodile snake eel.
13:00 back for lunch, and a shower and a nap on the terrace of my bungalow. A pair of hornbills fly over the resort.
16:00 the almost-daily thunderstorm arrives. I just make it to the restaurant terrace to have my daily fresh coconut. In front of the restaurant, orchids are in flower.
20:00 After dinner, I prepare my diving gear for tomorrow, read a bit and then put out the lights. There is a firefly in my bungalow. The frogs in the forest make lots of noise.
Looking great Inge. Enjoy.
Greetings from the rainy South-West in Germany. See you at Fronleichnam?
